WCAG Scanner

Find every accessibility issue
on your website.

Automated WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 scanning across your entire website. Issues organized by level, principle, and page — with specific remediation guidance for every finding.

The Scanner

What the Scanner Does

The Angstroma WCAG Scanner crawls your website and tests each page against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 success criteria. You get a structured report of every issue found — with the affected code element, the WCAG criterion it violates, the severity, and specific guidance for fixing it.

Standard

WCAG 2.1 and 2.2

Levels

A, AA, and AAA

Scope

Full site — all pages discovered via sitemap and crawl

Frequency

On-demand and scheduled (monthly)

Output

Issue list, page-level summary, VPAT-format report

Coverage

What the Scanner Checks

Image alt text — missing, empty, or inadequate
Heading structure and hierarchy
Form input labels — missing or mismatched
Color contrast — text, UI components, graphics
Keyboard navigability and focus management
ARIA roles, properties, and states
Link text clarity — "click here," "read more" patterns
Language declaration on page and inline
Sufficient click target sizes (WCAG 2.2)
Accessible name for interactive elements
Error identification and suggestion in forms
Video captions and transcripts (if applicable)
Page title and document structure
Skip navigation links
Timeout and session controls
Table headers and data cell associations
Limitations

What Automated Scanning Cannot Do

We are honest about the limits of automated testing. Our scanner can find approximately 30–40% of WCAG issues. The remainder require human judgment.

Whether alt text is meaningful in context (not just present)
Whether the reading order makes logical sense to a screen reader user
Whether interactive patterns (complex widgets, custom components) work with assistive technologies
Whether error messages are actually helpful
Testing with real screen readers, switch access, and voice control

The scanner is a powerful starting point and a way to find and track fixable issues systematically. For comprehensive conformance, supplement it with manual review.
